Two Winters Past

Scene 4
EXT. TREELINE. DAY

Wide angle. A farmhouse has been carved into the forest with a small barn and yard connected to the road by a gravel driveway. Driveway has been rained into mud. Trees cover hilltops in the background. They are recently green. Road defines the line between forest and meadow. Zoom in on COLE, ZACH, JIMMY, and HELLER followed by 2 COOLEYS.

ZACH points.

ZACH: Well is behind the barn.

HELLER: Real well, ain’t covered over?

JIMMY: Lembeks been stealing from us all winter.

ZACH: He’s heard enough about Lembeks.

HELLER: Anything in the barn?

ZACH: Why would there be anything in the barn?

HELLER: (nervous) Blythe says you keeping zombies.

ZACH: Blythe is nuts.

HELLER: What’s that noise?

They reach the yard, walk toward the house. There is a faint scratching and banging sound.

ZACH: Crickets. You hear them now. Chirping all night. Birds too, and coons squealing. Animals already coming back. Winter killed off all them zombies.
