ANDY: So, Dolores, how goes the newspaper business?
DOLORES: Oh, there’s always something interesting to write about.
ANDY: I’ll bet!
ELEANOR: I’ve been thinking about a career in journalism.
DOLORES: Journalism can be very exciting. You meet all sorts of people.
MARY: The only person she needs to meet is her future husband!
DOLORES: Yes, of course.
MARY: Eleanor, please get Dolores more coffee.
DOLORES: I’m fine, really. And we should get started. I don’t want to take your whole
Saturday.
MARY: Today is shopping day. And I’m in the middle of making a new dress.
DOLORES: For yourself?
ELEANOR: For me!
DOLORES: Lucky gal! I’d love a new dress. So, Mrs. Banas, are you beginning to feel better about Raymond’s decision to leave the comforts of home for the privations of the military life?
MARY: [puzzled] I do not know this word, pri-va-tions.
DOLORES: Have you heard from your other boys?
MARY: [Redirecting] Eleanor?
ELEANOR: Not recently. They don’t write much.
ANDY: No news is good news!
DOLORES: Indeed! By the way, I meant to bring our photographer. He’s home sick with the flu.
ANDY: The bug is going around.
DOLORES: I’ll send him by when he recovers.
MARY: No rush.
DOLORES: Again, a wonderful story – it was like a parable.
ANDY: A what?
ELEANOR: A teaching story.
DOLORES: [Looking at her notes] Eleanor was kind enough to provide a list of all your boys, their ages, their military ranks, and there last known whereabouts. So that will speed things up. Ready to get started?
Continued Monday.
