Revenge of AIN SOPH, Level 1

Cut Scene 18

CALOIN: fuck a large duck in the ass

KILGORE: Is something wrong?

CALOIN: we got to move faster
CALOIN: fucking duke

Kilgore scanned the area. One target approached, green on his displays, but too far off to determine a name.

CALOIN: go! go!
CALOIN: fuck me fuck me fuck me

The little wizard was running, and Sita Moon jogging to keep up. Kilgore engaged the camouflage. The CybR had photo-reactive cells on the surface that could bend light. The cells did not provide perfect invisibility, and only worked well when standing still or moving slowly. Still, they broke up his silhouette a little.

Kilgore felt shame in running. A Galaxy Knight’s place was to stand and fight. If an enemy could not be bested, the Knights provided a sturdy roadblock to give retreating forces the chance to reach safety. When one Galactic Knight fell, another was spawned to replace him, and another promoted from cadet to fill the empty place in the ranks. A Knight must follow orders though, and Kilgore’s orders were to stay with Sita Moon.

CALOIN: i have sensors set for him.
CALOIN: he’s always looking for sita moon.

KILGORE: Who is he?

CALOIN: a fucking nightmare.

The green dot drew closer on the radar. Green indicated an active entity, a free-roaming individual. Kilgore’s optics focused, and he could see a warrior in full plate mail armor. Sephiroth was certain this type of armor could only be used in pre-mech days if the warrior rode a horse. No normal man could wear so much armor and walk. He was clad head to toe in steel plate, but was nimble as a gymnast. The warrior was too far off to see his name, but he was charging toward them.

CALOIN: What are you waiting for?

The city in the distance was Corinth. It had been a port city until it was attacked by King Dagon. The legendary port was ravaged and had not yet recovered. The destruction was still visible in the spires that rose above the great wall that ran through the center of the city. This wall had contained the monster’s attack, and the region outside had flourished.

The green dot on the map became a Green name. The pursuer was DUKE.

KILGORE: Who is Duke?

CALOIN: he’s someone we don’t mess with.
CALOIN: even sita moon struggles to kill him.
CALOIN: and he always returns from the dead.

KILGORE: He’s a Piscean?

They were running, and still Duke advanced. Sephiroth identified Duke as a White Knight, the first of the Glithvaals drawn forth from the void by the Emperor to defend the world from the Dark Lord. White Knights were the greatest and most noble warriors in the land, and were permitted to dispense the Emperor’s Justice.

Kilgore stepped up to meet Caloin, and that is when the world exploded. A fire spell consumed them in a ring, and combet music stared. Kilgore wasknocked down. Sita Moon already had her sword drawn.

CALOIN: Fuck a large duck in the ass.
CALOIN: With a stick.

The flames did nothing to Kilgore. Galaxy Knights waded through smoldering seas, across burning valleys, and through conflagrations on slopes and planes. Fire did nothing more than inflame the rage of the Galaxy Knight. Kilgore was affected by the blast, but when he got to his feet, he was still a complete waste of space without his blaster, good for nothing but a living wall that Sita Moon could dodge and dart about to cut at Duke.

This was truly an opponent to Kilgore, and all he could manage was a few clumsy slashes that were good for no more than tearing packs of Space Goblins to gooey shreds. Duke attacked, and Kilgore parried. The clumsy Galaxy Knight had no hope of scoring on the great warrior.

Caloin summoned an ice storm on Duke, which froze him and allowed Kilgore time for a single, shattering swipe across the chest, landing 999 points of damage. Sita Moon was in control now. She connected again and again, even after Duke came to his senses.

Where as before the green short sword floating about Sita Moon had been lazy in its spin, knocking away only the occasional attack, now it flung about her with fury, deflecting each of Duke’s attacks.

A cloud of Nullification blew from Caloin’s fingertips, and wrapped around Duke, cancelling his spells and enchantments. Sita Moon drove him to the water, and Kilgore and Caloin folowed. The little wizard continued pounding Duke with magick attacks, and Kilgore absorbed the occasional return-fire that Duke managed to launch through his defenses.

Duke was no match for Sita Moon. She couldn’t hurt him much, but nothing he did could land an attack upon her. She cut him away in minutia, carving five or six HP at a time. Unless Sita Moon tired first, she was winning, but the battle would take a very long time.

More importantly, she was pushing Duke away. Every stagger Sita Moon inflicted knocked the White Knight back a few steps. Already, she had Duke in the surf, then to his knees, which was nearly the same depth as Sita Moon’s waist. Kilgore tried to follow, but Caloin stepped in front of him.

CALOIN: there’s shit out there.

With each connection, both weapons released tremendous bursts of energy. Combat music was all crashing symbols and electric guitars, overpowering all other sounds. Sita Moon was slowed by the water, but the green dagger protected her. Still, Duke was able to hit her on occasion. When he did, the damage was massive, but she fought on undeterred.

KILGORE: We have to help!

CALOIN: we means me
CALOIN: doesn’t it?

Caloin opened up with a full load, raining fire and stone down on Duke, pummeling him, and letting Sita Moon get in extra damage. Kilgore engaged his pulse saber and charged into the water. The two knights looked evenly into the visor of each other, and Duke turned his attention to the new threat. Both swung and swung again, but turned the attacks with their armor. Sita Moon hit Duke in the flank for extra damage. She was the greater threat, and Duke turned to attack her instead.

Defending from Sita Moon left no room for defense against Kilgore. The Galaxy Knight wound up with his saber for a devastating strike to Duke’s back. The force drove him into Sita Moon’s flaming scimitar. Duke hesitated, and Kilgore needed no more. His Galaxy Knight body was inept, but his brain was explosive.

Kilgore aligned a finisher, slamming his pulse saber into Duke’s spine, forcing forward until the blade ripped out Duke’s stomach. Kilgore heaved so hard he lifted Duke in the air, displaying him proudly a moment before cutting the body in half to tear his saber free. Duke’s body fell in the surf in two pieces, flashed a few times, and disappeared.

Sita Moon looked on, sword drawn. Kilgore watched her a moment, processing. Sephiroth gave him no answer.

CALOIN: we need to head for corinth
CALOIN: he never stays dead long
