Two Winters Past

EXT. CASTLE GATE. DAY.

Low angle, looking up at the Castle Gate. Unidentifiable heads can be seen above the wall. We hear first the rumble of the motorcycle engine, growing stronger until the front tire rolls into shot.

Zoom out to reveal BLYTHE.

Men can be heard shouting inside. Gate swings open.

GAMBLE and FRANK come out. Before anyone can speak, TURNER shoves between them and advances on BLYTHE.

CLOSEUP: BLYTHE.

BLYTHE: Shit.

WIDE: TURNER advances. FRANK and GAMBLE wait at the gate.

TURNER: Get off my bike! Can’t follow a god damned order, but you think you can go tearing around on MY bike?!

BLYTHE steps away from the motorcycle as TURNER swoops in.

BLYTHE: I got this for you, sir.

TURNER inspects the motorcycle, savoring every detail

TURNER: You done good, Sergeant.

BLYTHE: No sign of Conner.

TURNER: It’s Vince Heller I’m worried about. And Scar ain’t ever missed more meals than required. If they ain’t back, they probably trapped by those rippers.

BLYTHE: I can go back out towards N’erk Valley if you want. Ike says Vince got a sister out that way.

TURNER: How does this start?

BLYTHE: Like a normal bike, but no key. I tell you, those Triangles are craftsmen.

TURNER: How’d you get it past them?

BLYTHE: Hmm? Oh, just got it neutral and crept out quiet. I didn’t jump it until I was on the next hill.

TURNER starts the motorcycle.

TURNER: (shouting) It’s like I’m getting fucked again!

BLYTHE: (shouting) It’s nice, isn’t it?

TURNER: (shouting) Don’t you have a ditch to dig?

BLYTHE: Yes, sir!

TURNER: Dismissed!

BLYTHE salutes and exits. TURNER rides away. Hold screen for 20 seconds as the sound of the motorcycle gradually recedes.
