Two Winters Past

EXT. DEPOSIT. EVENING.

Sun is falling behind the Deposit wall. Only a skeleton crew mans the crenelations. The catwalk has been repaired and reinforced. LOGAN is above the sealed gate.

STOKES climbs the ladder to join him.

STOKES: Barabas, you need to get some sleep.

LOGAN: I slept an hour two shifts past. If Damascus does not return, I will sleep next shift.

STOKES: Your captains need you alert.

LOGAN: My Barabas need me awake. There are no more commands to give. Fight with all you have. They will do that all the harder with me beside them.

STOKES: Barabas, you are dead already. We will summon you as soon as Damascus is sighted.

LOGAN sighs.

LOGAN: So be it. Wake Tartell, I’ve let him sleep over long enough. If he complains about his hand, cut the rest of it off.

LOGAN climbs off the wall, crosses the yard.

KOTE meets LOGAN at the door.

LOGAN: How many doors have been sealed.

KOTE: All but two.

LOGAN: Seal one of those.

KOTE: No means of escape.

LOGAN: Where is the girl I brought in yesterday?

KOTE: Stokes’s quarters, I would expect.

LOGAN: Send her to my room.

KOTE: (balks) Yes, Barabas.

KOTE exits across the yard. LOGAN goes inside.
