Episode 7
RAYMOND: They’re mine. Like I said, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. Sergeant Sotelo said I was 1A. Do you know what that means? 1A is the best rating for a new Marine. Now I ship out to San Diego for basic training in two weeks.
MARY: [MARY shakes her head] Raymond, you’re all wet.
ELEANOR: Yeah! You’re all wet.
RAYMOND: Dry up, Sis! You don’t know from nothing.
ELEANOR: You’d be surprised by what I know.
MARY: Raymond, at least finish school. You graduate in May. The Army can wait.
RAYMOND: It’s the Marines. AND I hafta go now!
ANDY: Mama, for the last time, Raymond made his decision. You’re not going to change his mind.
MARY: I still want to talk to the Sergeant-man. Raymond, tomorrow you invite him for supper.
RAYMOND: What if he won’t come?
MARY: He’ll come. Eleanor, clear the table and put the cake away. Papa, make plenty of root beer.
ANDY: Should we hire a polka band too?
RAYMOND: What are you going to say?
MARY: I’m going to set him straight.
RAYMOND: You’re gonna make me look like a mama’a boy! Swell. Eleanor, wipe that smirk off your face!
MARY: I’ll fix everything, you’ll see.
RAYMOND: Fix everything? Nothing’s broke.
MARY: I know what I’m doing.
