Cut Scene 16
The grenade flew, but Kilgore’s aim was off. His throwing skill never improved, because he hated fighting with grenades. The bomb bounced too high and remained on the second floor.
The good news was that the blast was likely to still achieve the desired effect. The bad news was that Kilgore needed to have been running 2 seconds ago to escape this.
Kilgore rarely changed his armor configurations mid-battle. He knew what worked together, but he needed time to navigate the drop-down menus to coordinate the shields for maximum protection. Spidrons only had one configuration. Individual creatures did not evolve for multiple tasks. Kilgore programmed his suit to defend him against each interstellar horror he faced.
Fire from the Concussion Bomb filled the room. This did nothing to Kilgore. The CybR sheilded Kilgore from all the effects of his own weapons. Even if he bounced the Void Bomb on himself, it would not matter unless he stuck around to stumble into the void. The Concussion Bomb turned rock to dust and flesh to vapor, but Kilgore was able to stand next tot he blast and take no damage. Much of the dust had previously been support walls though, and Kilgore had a bigger problem. To begin with, he was now standing in reach of Duke, who was damaged but not dead. The second problem, was that both were now standing in the basement.
They did not have time to fight though, because of the third problem, which was thousands pounds of rock collapsing on their heads. Kilgore was buried and dead before he could finish setting the shields that would not have protected him in the first place.
Game Over.
