Two Winters Past

Thunder rolls.

FADE IN.

EXT. FOREST PATH. DAY.

The sun is just now rising. VALENTINE steps into shot, dragging his heels, exhausted.

VALENTINE falls to his knees, gets up, stumbles once more and drops again.

CLOSEUP: VALENTINE peers down the trail in the dim light. Reaction: surprise.

A human form comes into focus against a tree ahead.

VALENTINE lurches to his feet and advances until we see REMMY sprawled against a tree, clutching his shoulder.

REMMY looks up, pale and bloodless. When he recognizes Valentine, REMMY smiles weakly.

REMMY: Looks like you out-did me after all.

VALENTINE: Where is Chloe?

REMMY: Broke the ribs, I think you got a lung. I can't hardly breath at all.

VALENTINE: WHERE IS CHLOE?!

REMMY: Either carry me or her. John Chango couldn’t do both.

VALENTINE: Where did they go?

REMMY: Keep going down the road here. You find the house. I don’t suppose you the type to put a suffering man out of his misery.

VALENTINE draws his machete and hacks REMMY to death.
