Two Winters Past

INT. CHAPEL. MORNING.

LOGAN and TARTELL stand before the stage. LOGAN wears a hooded sweatshirt with a cross sewn to the front.

SETH enters. He is a man of about 20. He is nervous.

SETH: You sent for me, Barabas?

LOGAN: Your name is Seth?

SETH: Yes, Barabas.

SETH shakes LOGAN’s hand, TARTELL’s hand.

SETH: It is a pleasure to serve you, Barabas.

TARTELL: We have a mission for you, Seth.

SETH: I live to serve, Barabas.

LOGAN: You know this land well?

SETH: I used to four-wheeler all over.

LOGAN: You can find your way to the highway without being seen?

SETH: Suppose.

LOGAN takes a paper from his jacket.

LOGAN: I have drawn you a map. I need you to go to a place called Northgate Plaza. The men there serve a general in Castle Creek. Tell them we are friends to the Swordsman.

SETH takes the map.

SETH: Yes, Barabas.

TARTELL: Men wait at the north exit to help you over the wall. Go now. There is not much time.

SETH salutes and exits.

LOGAN: I hope this is right.

TARTELL: Who is the Swordsman?

LOGAN: He is no one to know.

TARTELL: I have heard the Preacher mention that name, could he help us?

LOGAN: He has no armies. He is not easy to find.

TARTELL: And the general from Castle Creek?

LOGAN: The Swordsman knows many people. He is godless though. He serves only himself. Let this be the last time we talk about the Swordsman.

TARTELL: Yes, Barabas.
