Episode 4
Now
that he had the surround sound programmed, Will Whatley barely left the house,
even to buy food. Though illegal and strictly forbidden, Will used black
market auction sites to sell the rare items his characters collected.
For them, he received real money deposited directly to his debit
account. He could then transfer that money directly to the pizza place
down the street that delivered to his door. Noticing that he’d become
sluggish since he covered the windows with blankets, he’d started
ordering onion rings, fried mushrooms, and a veggie lover’s pizzas to
make sure he ate enough vegetables. He’d also not drank soda since the
last time he went outside. Will knew that ugly stuff would be the death
of him.
When
one don’t go outside, one tends not to bathe as well, and because he’d
not seen more sunlight than a few luminous pencil lines between blanket
and wall, he’d lost track of what day it was. Somewhere around
thirty-five-hundred game hours, but Will couldn’t remember exactly what
increment of time that matched, and he was pretty sure it had been
changed. He was not about to go digging through help texts for the
answer to a question like that.
Why
go outside when Will Whatley could make a perfectly good living as
Galvatron? It even made him question whether or not he truly wanted to
meet Lilly Katt in real life. It’s not like she’d like him, at least not
in any way Will had imagined she’d wanted him in the last few years.
Will wasn’t sure, but he might even be happier with their current
arrangement. After all, Galvatron was someone that not only Starscream
respected, but so did every PC that had ever fallen prey to Galvatron’s
devastating attacks. For the first time in his life, Galvatron and
Will’s other characters had given him a little self-esteem.
