Two Winters Past

Scene 20

EXT. TREELINE

COOLEY 1 and 2 follow after JIMMY, shouting at the monsters. A few more monsters chase them.

COLE overpowers his attacker and pins it with a collapsible ladder he pulls off the side of the house.

COLE runs to assist HELLER, who has killed one monster, but still fights with two more.

COOLEY 2 snags his arm on a branch, shattering the wood and impaling his shoulder on the spike. He cries out once before monsters reach him, pressing and biting, tearing away clothing and the skin beneath. COOLEY 2 wails until his face is chewed away.

COLE stabs a hunting knife into the back of a monster. It’s breath rattles, but still it bucks to reach behind. Fighting to stay on the monster’s back, COLE pulls the knife out and stabs the neck, opening the carotid artery, bathing COLE in blood. Monster’s thrashing grows weaker.

HELLER is still struggling against the other monster, and the third has freed its self from beneath the ladder. One arm hangs limp and there is heavy bruising on the torso. Monster charges HELLER.

Monster dies on the ground, and COLE runs to aid HELLER, but ZACH tackles him from the tall grass.

Only two monsters remain. JIMMY and COOLEY 1 can still be heard shouting in the woods.

ZACH gets COLE in a headlock.
