Two Winters Past

Scene 21

EXT. FOREST

A cabin big enough for a bed and a little else comes into view. The door is ajar. POPPER and VALENTINE run to the shack.

POPPER: This’s Hazard’s place.

VALENTINE: His name is Hazard?

POPPER: It’s a new world. People sometimes take names they feel associates them better. I don’t know what he’s really called.

POPPER pushes open the door, gasps.

VALENTINE: What’s wrong?

POPPER: Hazard’s dead.

VALENTINE: Zombies?

POPPER: No.

VALENTINE: Is it the Cooleys?

POPPER: He ain’t been dead long.

POPPER comes out.

POPPER: They knew we’d be coming this way. We can’t cross the field, they’ll be looking for us.

VALENTINE: Do we go back through the woods?

POPPER: There is a stream at the bottom of the hill, crosses the road that leads up to the house.
