Two Winters Past

INT. GAS STATION. NIGHT.

ESTABLISHING SHOT: There was a fight here, but that was a long time ago. The glass front of the gas station is entirely gone, from the X-Press mart to the McDonalds. Inside is dark.

VALENTINE, MOLAY, and CHLOE ISIS approach.

MOLAY: Be careful, someone could be living in here.

INT. GAS STATION. NIGHT.

VALENTINE, MOLAY, and CHLOE ISIS enter and look around. The shelves have been cleared and any remaining merchandise thrown around.

MOLAY: Bandages, food, water, and anything else that could be helpful. Someone might have left a backpack.

They split up to look around. VALENTINE goes back to the McDonald’s.

MOLAY(OS): There probably isn’t any food back there, but look for one of those orange juice bags.

VALENTINE shakes his head, goes behind the counter.

Cooler has been opened and raided. A few salad clamshells remain with brown flakes of decomposed greens crusted to the bottom.

On the ground, VALENTINE finds a single sealed bottle of water. He puts it in his pocket and goes to the kitchen. CHLOE ISIS comes into the McDonald’s.

CHLOE ISIS: You find anything? I would kill for some orange juice.

VALENTINE: You want to drink two-year-old orange juice?

CHLOE ISIS: It’s probably got so many chemicals you can’t even call it orange juice anymore.

VALENTINE: I haven’t found any.

VALENTINE turns the nob on the grill. It hisses.

VALENTINE: Hey!

VALENTINE feels around in the darkness, comes back with a plastic lighter.

CLOSEUP: VALENTINE holds the lighter in front of his face. He flicks it twice, and it ignites.

VALENTINE uses the lighter to ignite the burner.

CHLOE ISIS approaches.

CHLOE ISIS: Oh my god! I can’t believe it works!

MOLAY enters, holding up a can of Spam.

MOLAY: Look what I found! You got fire?

EXT. GAS STATION.

VO: VALENTINE and MOLAY laughing.

A pair of motorcycle boots steps into shot with jingling buckles. Feet walk toward gas station. A second and third pair of boots follow.
