“Hi, can I talk to Brian, please?”
(Man’s voice) “Whosis?”
“This is SpectraCom.”
“Hold on, I’ll get him.”
(Woman’s voice) “Hello?”
“Hi, can I speak with Brian McCabe or his wife, please?”
“Who you?”
“This is SpectraCom, the phone company.”
“Hold on, I’ll get him.”
(Pause)(Man’s voice) “Hello?”
“Hello, Brian?”
“No, this John, Who’dis?”
“This is SpectraCom. I’m calling to talk to Brian McCabe or Brian McCabe’s wife. Three people have told me I can talk to him. Could you please get me one of them?”
“Yeah, ho’don.”
(Woman’s voice) “Hello?”
“Yes, is Brian there? Brian McCabe, the owner of this phone line. Is he in the house right now?”
“Yes.”
“Can I talk to him?”
“Sure, hold on.”
“Ma’am!”
“Yes?”
“Could you make sure he’s the next person I talk to? If you’re just going to pass me to someone else, will you just hang up right now?”
