“Ms. Robbins, I’m sorry, but there is nothing I can do. We can only issue a refund if you made payments to the account. This credit was issued and resulted in a credit balance on your closed account. This $6.25 will be written off, we won’t be sending that to you.”
“But you have to!”
“No, Ms. Robbins, we won’t be doing that.”
“But I was slammed! I didn’t accept your service, and your representative signed me up anyway!”
“That is why you were issued a credit. It says right here that you never authorized service, so SpectraCom credited your account. The credit would have carried over if you stayed with us. Since you chose to switch service, this will be adjusted to zero.”
“Why would I stay with SpectraCom when you switched my service illegally?”
“That choice is up to you, ma’am. Some people do, some people don’t. As it stands though, any unused portion of this credit is deleted.”
“No it’s not!”
‘I’m afraid it is, ma’am.”
“No! NO! Don’t you understand? NO! That’s your punishment! That’s my restitution! You did something illegal! Now you are punished! You have to send that to me! The courts said so!”
“No. No, they didn’t.”
