Winning the Drug War
Now, don't read Nuger wrong, here, I don't want anyone thinking I endorse drug use, cuz I don't. Nuge has seen quite a few lives destroyed through misuse of dangerous chemicals. At the end of the day, the Motor City Madman may like a sip of this, or a puff of that, but Nuge don't let things get out of control. Nuge doesn't need that kind of high. What really get's Sweaty Teddy's guts jumping is dropping out of a tree on the back of a caribou for tonight’s dinner using only a 12-inch hunting knife. After that, tooting blow just doesn't cut it.
What Nuge does support, however, is freedom, freedom to do as you please as long as you are willing to accept the consequences. Committing a crime is committing a crime whether you commit a crime under the influence of a chemical or not. A person who steals should be punished, and a person who kills should be punished, but a hell of a lot of Nuge's money has been spent prosecuting people who smoked a joint in their living room, ate dinner, and went to bed. Nuge does not approve.
When elected, the Drug War will be dealt with in a manner that makes sense. Rather than arresting, we start taxing. A distant threat of imprisonment doesn't deter, Americans are more likely to quit if they have to pay the government. The same people will be using drugs whether they are legal or not, but now the US will have a steady income to pay for any problems the trouble makers create.
It's time for an America that makes sense.
