“I’m a sick old woman; you can’t turn my phone off. What if I need to call an ambulance?”
“You don’t have to worry about that, Ma’am, the suspension doesn’t prevent you from making emergency calls. You are still able to dial 911.”
“How can I do that? I don’t have a dial tone?”
“You don’t need a dial tone to make that call.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“I’m sorry that you don’t believe me, Ma’am, but it is true.”
“I’m going to try it.”
“Ms. Warner, please be advised that calling 911 when you don’t have an emergency is a crime, and you can be fined or arrested. They trace the calls, and if you try it with no emergency, they will come to arrest you.”
“You’re just saying that to keep me from checking it.”
“Ms. Warner, it’s up to you, whether or not you try it. I’m just advising you of the consequences.”
