FADE IN FROM BLACK
WIDE:
Three exhausted men are slowly walking towards the camera,
down a country road as is getting late in the day.
CUT TO:
STEADICAM
POV of walking along with the men, Cole, Zack and Terror.
TERROR
I got him good with that axe
(Vaguely Smiling as he spoke)
ZACK
You sure did! Glad you were there,
it gave me just the chance I needed
to shoot that other goon and save
Cole.
Zack glances at Cole and give him a wink and Cole just
stares blankly at him.
TERROR
Fucking bastards ... I’d kill ’em
all if I had a chance. Why can’t
the just accept Elijah as King?
ZACK
You’ll get your chance. We need to
get everyone on board and listening
to the King so we had have a
stronger community instead of all
this wasted infighting.
COLE
We can’t just kill everyone who
disagrees with what we are trying
to do here.
TERROR
I’d like to get rid of those
Lembeks and anyone who’d follow
their crazy asses.
COLE
Isn’t this country founded on
freedom and the right of any man to
do and believe as he pleases?
ZACK
Feeling all high and mighty today?
COLE
(Glares.)
TERROR
Maybe... but them Lembecks ... they
are all just a bad lot ... caught
them stealing from us and raiding our
food supplies. They killed two
of us! This world would be better
off with out them.
ZACK
Right, they started this scrap by
being scumbag murdering thieves.
They deserve all they got coming to
them.
COLE
Yes, there are some bad people
there but what about the women and
children living with them?
ZACK
We are at war for our survival. War
requires sacrifices.
COLE
There have been too many sacrifices
lately. Bad people need to be
brought to justice but we need to
bring back civilization. Bring back
courts and judges, get this world
back to how it was before power
went out and everything went crazy.
ZACK
You may be the Prince but you ain’t
been no angel. Perhaps they will be
judging you next?
COLE
Perhaps they should ...
TERROR
Ain’t nobody doing nothin’ to the
King or his kin as long as I am
around.
ZACK
Maybe how the world was before was
wrong. Maybe this our chance to set
things right.
TERROR
I wouldn’t mind gettin’ back some
’lectricity, I miss my shows.
COLE
The blood lust has to stop.
ZACK
The King decides where and when it
will stop ... NOT the prince.
TERROR
(Grunts his approval.)
They walk along silently for awhile down a country road that
is overhung by trees. The walk is uneventfully until they
are crossing a bridge and they hear a sound off to the right
side of the road. It is one of the monsters moaning and
struggling. It is caught in one of the old barbed wire
traps. The trio stop and assess the situation.
ZACK
Well looky what we got here.
COLE
Why are they all heading for the
creeks these days?
TERROR
Maybe they’re thirsty?
ZACK
Ain’t just any water they head for
... just the creeks that dump into
the Tioughnioga River.
TERROR
Caught six of them with Remy on
this creek bed a couple months ago.
COLE
I wonder why they are heading down
stream like that?
ZACK
Who knows, Who cares?
TERROR
Should I just kill it or should we
bring it back with us?
ZACK
I don’t know, what do you think My
Prince? Maybe you should help your
brother with his round ups?
Cole pauses for a moment and then walks down closer to the
horrid creature. The Creature turns and looks at him with
it’s hollow yellow eyes and moans as it renews it’s efforts
to free itself from the barbed wire and get to the creek
below.
ZACK
What’s your call?
Cole walks down towards the beast, he picks up a large branch
off the ground and pokes the monster. It turns towards him
and growls, then it turns back towards the creek, seemingly
not wanting to be bothered or further detained from its
unknown destination. Cole sees that it caught around it’s
waist, the barbed wire stuck into it’s jeans and into the
rotting flesh of it’s waist as well.
COLE
I dunno, this thing reeks it looks
like it’s caught pretty good and
goo is oozing out of it’s gut.
Cole looks down at his shirt. It is still splattered with
Heller’s blood. He wonders if Zack still has any bullets
left in his gun as he looks back up at his Uncle and half
smiles. Cole moves quickly and grabs the beast by it’s
flannel shirt from behind. The monster starts to flail about
wildly. Terror lumbers down the bank to help Cole, Zack just
watches on from the high ground.
TERROR
Lemme Help
COLE
I got it
Cole pulls hard on the shoulders of it’s shirt and tries
to spin it around to face up the hill at Zack. It is stuck
good on the barbed wire, he can only manage to twist the
Monster about a quarter turn when it’s flesh starts to tear
and its insides start to run out from around the barb wire
as it tear deeper into it’s flesh.
Zack slowly pulls his pistol out of his waist band but does
it raise it up.
The Camera jump cut between Zack’s face and Cole’s face,
each filled with the grim with determination of survival.
Terror trips when he only a yard or so from Cole and the
monster. He rolls down the hill and hit the beasts legs
first, then he barrels through monster and takes out Cole’s
legs next as he comes to a stop.
Cole is holding on to the monster and looking at his uncle
so he barely sees what’s happening. Cole's legs buckle from
the impact of the rolling Terror. He clutches tightly on to
the monster’s shirt and pulls on it hard in order to try and
stay upright. The monster, still stuck on the barbed wire
tears in half and slows Cole’s descent to the ground . As
Cole falls the monster pulls free, landing on Cole.
Zach descends the hill, gun out pointed at the creature as
well as his nephew that lay directly underneath it.
Cole and Zack lock eyes, Zack smiles as he pulls back the
hammer and pauses.
Terror had righted his large frame and stood up while Zack
was descending the hill and picked up the thick branch that
Cole was using to poke the Zombie with earlier. Terror steps
in front of Zack at smacks the creature in the head and Cole
pushes it off of him. Terror goes to town bashing it’s
brains in and cursing it as he does.
ZACK
Been you lucky day Prince Cooley
COLE
Yeah ...
TERROR
Sorry about that Cole
Terror is looking down, not wanting to look into Cole’s
eyes.
COLE
Wasn’t your fault
TERROR
I am just a big Dummy sometimes, I
was trying to help.
COLE
You are NOT a dummy and I know you
were trying to help me big guy ...
and you did.
Cole looks at Zack while he is talking, not at Terror
TERROR
If you say so Cole.
COLE
I say so.
TERROR
Let’s go home.
COLE
Yeah, let’s go home.
The three men get back on to the road and start walking.
