Cut Scene 5
Kilgore had never seen a wizard before. According to legend, the Seed Planet was populated with magick users, but the Imperator sucked all magick in Known Space into himself to put down the Rebellion. No magick remained but for sacred artifacts the Imperator touched while he was alive. Sephiroth confirmed Caloin was in fact a wizard. He shot fire and ice shards from his fingers, wearing down the Spidron for hundreds of points of damage, but the brutal monster was unstoppable.
The reach of the Spidron's claws still caught Caloin as it surged forward to strike once before it was driven back by the force of his magick. The Spidron slithered left and right to dodge his streams and duck his ice sprays to attack. Kilgore needed to intercede. His Blaster equipped and took aim. He was a Gunner Knight, who carried a Class-2 Blaster, which fired a focused laser beam capable of punching through a light vehicle armor. The thick plates on his CybR made a Gunner Knight a walking, shooting fortification.
A Galaxy Knight’s CybR was hardwired directly to his brain and welded to his bones. It can never be removed. A visor is the only face Kilgore would ever know. His cybernetics worked on nerve impulses, and this eyes were removed to power the advanced targeting system. Kilgore's blaster engaged, clamping and extending around his hand. The ammo clip snapped in place and the synchronizers in his helmet took full control. After Pax Galactus, the Knights had been re-ordered to face the Spidron advance coming from Unknown Space. Every member of the Steel Brethren was a war-machine built for this single purpose.

Kilgore took aim and fired, but the Spidron surged forth to attack, gaining cover from the trees. Kilgore re-positioned for a better shot, but the Spidron had clamped Caloin in its maw and was violently shaking him.
CALOIN: Fuck a large duck in the ass!
The Spidron tossed Caloin away and charged Kilgore, ducking two more of his shots. The Spidron grabbed Kilgore's gun-arm in its jaws and lifted him in the air. He grappled the face, attempting to put the pulse saber through an eye-mass, but he was taking massive damage as the monster swung him back and forth. The Spidron set upon him with the climbing claws.
Spidrons are unmatched in melee fighting, and operate with a hive mind. They have no regard for individual life. Swarms would sacrifice millions to land a few among a position of Galaxy Knights, because a few tough Spidrons were all they needed to shred any opposition they came across. All were consumed, the swarm always advanced.
The elbow of the CybR broke, and Kilgore’s arm tore free. He splashed into the surf. That was his last real limb.
The salt water seemed to hurt the sensitive tail cluster, and it would not follow Kilgore into the water. Sita Moon was still fighting beyond the limit of the Spidron's perception. Though she continued whittling away with small scores, the Spidron had not yet detected her.
The CybR scanned the water, and it came back pure, the cleanest water Kilgore ever encountered on any planet. He was knee-deep, outside the creature’s reach. Sephiroth called this the Icewater Sea, and the beach was an Imperial highway. Kilgore was so overwhelmed with information it stunned him momentarily.

Sita Moon did enough damage in a single strike to draw the Spidron's attention. As it turned, spears of ice rammed through the Spidron’s body for 1,000 points of damage. The monster was knocked on its back. It recovered immediately, but Sita Moon pressed her advantage. The Spidron flailed with its giant claws, but Sita Moon made no motion to avoid. Each strike was deflected by the floating green dagger.
Combat music swelled as Sita Moon ran up the Spidron's back, dodging two attacks and planting her boots on the Spidron's shoulder. With both hands she plunged the blade down into the Spidron's head between the two glistening eye masses. Pounding drums and chanting music covered all sounds but the Spidron's roars. The nimble elf held her footing, stabbing again and again with the blade, reducing the chitin head to pulp. The combat music climaxed. Sita Moon wrenched her blade free and lopped off the Spidron's head. The monster collapsed. She hopped off before it hit the sand, landing before Kilgore.
CALOIN: Fuck a large duck in the ass.
The combat music faded, and Kilgore inspected his injury. Local and general pain-killers already dumped in Kilgore’s system, carefully balanced to neutralize the agony and keep him alert.
CALOIN: is that scifi armor?
CALOIN: you can’t have scifi armor here.
Kilgore stood before Sita Moon. Sephiroth confirmed, this blue-haired elf was the target of Willful1's beacon.
KILGORE: I am here to protect Sita Moon.
CALOIN: Fuck a large duck in the ass.
KILGORE: I am a Galaxy Knight in service of the Imperator.
CALOIN: She don’t need your protection.
CALOIN: She does fine on her own.
CALOIN: Get out of here!
KILGORE: My ship is destroyed.
CALOIN: Well your kind isn’t welcome here, so we need to get moving.
CALOIN: And we doesn’t mean you!
