Two Winters Past

SLOW FADE FROM BLACK.

We hear first a long, atonal note sounded on a single string.

EXT. FOREST. DAY.

VALENTINE stares down on the corpse, breathing heavy. He hears a noise in the distance and a faint scream. It sounds like Chloe.

VALENTINE takes a step to run, but there is a crashing from another direction as a monster runs at him.

VALENTINE dodges narrowly, and another arrives before he can escape. VALENTINE scrambles up a bank, out of reach. A third monster has joined the group, and they are clawing for a grip.

Second monster nearly has a grip on VALENTINE when there is a gunshot and the monster falls.

VALENTINE drops into cover.

The original monster falls on VALENTINE, but a second gunshot finishes the third before it can attack as well.

VALENTINE wrestles with the remaining monster but cannot get it off him. JIMMY runs in and pulls the monster away.

VALENTINE gets to his feet and chops three times in the face before turning to see Jimmy with his rifle pointed at Valentine’s head.

JIMMY: Where is he? Where is Remmy?

VALENTINE steps back and JIMMY tenses on the trigger.

JIMMY: What did you do with my cousin?

VALENTINE: Chango left him...

JIMMY: Chango told me what happened! Said Remmy begged John to go on with that woman.

VALENTINE: And my blade finished him off!

JIMMY: Tell me where he lie.

VALENTINE points.

VALENTINE: Right down that road. You can’t miss him.

As JIMMY turns to follow these directions, a monster steps from the forest and bites his face, bringing JIMMY to the ground.

JIMMY drops his rifle. Another monster appears and bites him.

VALENTINE grabs the rifle and tries to shoot, but the gun is empty.

VALENTINE runs before the monsters notice him.

Down the road, VALENTINE sees CHANGO with CHLOE ISIS over his shoulder.

CHANGO runs.
