Two Winters Past

INT. ABANDONED HOUSE.

Sunshine refracts in and fills the scene with light.

VALENTINE and MOLAY are in the living room.

VALENTINE is putting on shoes.

MOLAY: I’ve heard of the Cooleys, but I don’t come on this side of the mountain often.

VALENTINE: They don’t raid where you live?

MOLAY: Ain’t nothing for them above the highway. They don’t go far from the compound.

VALENTINE: They murdered the Lembecks.

MOLAY: I’m afraid I don’t know them.

VALENTINE: The Cooleys drove the monsters into the house like a herd. Chloe and I barely escaped.

CHLOE ISIS (OS): Did I hear my name?

CHLOE ISIS enters wearing a new dress.

CHLOE ISIS: How do I look?

CHLOE ISIS does a spin to show off her new clothes.

MOLAY: I wish I could have seen you when the world had some fashion sense.

VALENTINE gives a sharp look that MOLAY does not notice.

VALENTINE: These shoes fit too.

MOLAY: Good, I don’t want to sit here too long.

VALENTINE: Will that thing keep following us?

MOLAY: Don’t know. Most people I talk to still don’t even believe they exist.

CHLOE ISIS: We’re going to Whitney Point.

MOLAY: That’s what I hear. I don’t think it’s a safe bet. I heard of a small clan up in Triangle, but Whitney Point has been very quiet.

CHLOE ISIS: They have a tank.

MOLAY: I know that tank. It isn’t rolling any time soon.

VALENTINE: There’s a grocery store too.

MOLAY: Looters got into every store through there. The electronics store is still stocked.

CHLOE ISIS: All we’ve eaten was a pack of crackers I found in the car.

VALENTINE: We’ve been on the run a couple days now.

MOLAY: I don’t want you to go back in the city.

CHLOE ISIS: Val came from the city, and I made it from Syracuse to see this.

MOLAY: Well, it so happens I’m on my way there as well. There is an ancient evil in the city, and I’m going to put a stop to it.
