“Hello, can I speak with Jim please?”
“How did you get this number?”
“Excuse me?”
“Who are you?”
“I’m calling from SpectraCom for Jim.”
“Why are you calling my cell phone?”
“Are you Jim?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, sir, you must have given us this number when you set up the account. We don’t offer cell phone service, so you don’t have it through us, and it’s listed on your account, so the only way we could have gotten it is if you provided it to us as a means to contact you when you set up the account. If you want it removed, I can give you the number for our Customer Service department, as they are the only ones capable of removing it.”
“No. I want you to remove it and stop calling me.”
“Sir, I’m very sorry, but the only way this number can be removed is if you call into Customer Service.”
“Why can’t you call them?”
“Because I’m not authorized to make changes on your account.”
“You work for the company, you change it!”
“Only Customer Service can do that.”
“So tell them to!”
“I can’t sir, you have to. You have to call them and request it to be changed.”
“So transfer me!”
“I can’t, sir, I’m unable to transfer on an outbound call.”
“Well, you’d better find a way, because I’m not calling them.”
“Unfortunately sir, this department will continue to call you on this line.”
“Why?”
“Because you are unwilling to do what you need to do to have this matter taken care of. Until you do that, we are authorized to call you on this number.”
