Revenge of AIN SOPH: Level 1

Cut Scene 8

Kilgore caught up to Caloin and Sita Moon with no problem. He engaged his pulse saber. He was no good in hand-to-hand, but nothing he'd seen convinced Kilgore this wizard would give him any trouble to cut apart.

KILGORE: I was sent here to find Sita Moon.
KILGORE: If that is a problem for you, try to stop me.

Caloin assessed the threat and backed off to a defensive stance.

CALOIN: fuck a large duck in the ass

Energy crackled around Caloin's fingers. Tech-Priests were capable of shaping that energy into great ships capable of light-speed travel through deep space, but none had access to true magick. Only on the lost Seed Planet, birthplace of the Imperator, was magick still rumored to exist.

The official legend states the Imperator’s dead-but-dreaming corpse was found floating in space and interred within the machinery of his Milky Way palace. Through his living corpse the Space Hubs and Void technology  could still be operated. Some thought the Imperator was still alive, and went back home to the Seed Planet.

Sita Moon did not draw her swords. Combat music would not start until the first shot was fired. Caloin circled Sita Moon.

CALOIN: You don’t want to fight him?
CALOIN: Typical.

The wizard put down his hands and the spells faded.

KILGORE: I am a Galaxy Knight of the Steel Brethren, here in the name of the Imperator.
KILGORE: This planet resides within the borders of his Galaxy Empire.
KILGORE: You are his subjects.

Already Caloin was walking down the dirt road. Sita Moon followed the little wizard. Kilgore ran after them.

CALOIN: you got to get rid of that armor

KILGORE: This armor was welded to my skeleton when I was a boy.
KILGORE: It can’t be removed without removing my limbs as well.

CALOIN: fuck a large duck in the ass

These lands they walked in were once called Gastillion, but were conquered by the Empire when that dynasty collapsed. They followed the Ophalius Road, which followed the coast of the Icewater Sea south to Corinth, the one-time jewel in the Gastillion crown.

CALOIN: do you have a cape

KILGORE: Ceremonial.

Kilgore equipped his Valiance Cape, with the Steel Brethren logo beneath the Imperator’s ever-watchful eye. The epaulettes on his shoulder pads were woven red and white gold in badges that signified his major campaigns.

CALOIN: worse
CALOIN: we need to cover your armor

Caloin was motionless and silent. Kilgore scanned the landscape for anything interesting. Mountains separated the sky from the ground on all sides but for the ocean beach extending out of sight. The slopes were alive with trees and grass, both a rare site on most planets. Endless war devoured resources far ahead of the Spidrons as Space Elves, Space Orcs, and Space Dwarves all competed against the Empire for supremacy of the systems. Kilgore had never seen a planet this alive. Each mountain, forest, and structure he could pick out on the distant horizon had a detailed history in the Sephiroth.

There is no way Kilgore could have simply missed this volume, this planet had been deliberately hidden. Kilgore was starting to believe this was the legendary Seed Planet.

CALOIN: sita can kill any monster in this region
CALOIN: dont worry

KILGORE: If we encounter another Spidron of that size, I am entirely unarmed.

CALOIN: yeah you are

Caloin laughed, but Kilgore did not understand why. His damaged body was no laughing matter. Without his blaster, Kilgore was nothing. His best move was a spin attack that could clear massed troops, but was easily avoided by more nimble individual adversaries.

KILGORE: My CybR armor was not built for hand-to-hand combat.
KILGORE: I’m a Gunner.

CALOIN: sita moon can handle it
